Unified Greek Council (UGC)

unified greek council logo

The Unified Greek Council was created for the purpose of encouraging community service and philanthropy, support of high academic standards, the development of campus and community leaders, and to promote diversity within the Baylor community.

At this time, the council is comprised of four sororities and three fraternities. If you are interested in joining one of these organizations, look for UGC events taking place throughout the year.

The fall semester is reserved for upperclassmen and transfer students with at least 12 Baylor credit hours at a 2.67 cumulative GPA and 2.0 current GPA or 24 transfer hours from an institution of higher education at a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Finally, to be an active member in any organizations, members are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.33 and current GPA of 2.0.

First-year students wishing to participate in spring recruitment must have completed a minimum of one semester in residence at Baylor University as a full-time enrolled student (12 hours) and meet the above GPA requirement.

UNIFIED GREEK COUNCIL (UGC) MEMBERSHIP INTAKE

  • Each UGC chapter has an independent membership selection process. Every chapter has its own criteria for GPA and completed college hours, but the overall Baylor requirements include at 2.67 GPA and a minimum of 12 semester hours.
  • Many chapters host open recruitment events during the first few weeks of each semester. Be on the lookout for opportunities through social media to attend UGC events and informationals to learn more about how to get involved.
  • Membership Intake Process (MIP) occurs from a time a member is accepted for membership through the time they are initiated, which is no longer than 5 weeks.
  • To learn more information, interested students should connect with individual chapters to indicate their interest. Participation in at least one UGC event is required to be eligible to join a UGC organization.

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO TO SHOW INTEREST

1. Attend chapter programs and events.

2. Attend an Interest Meeting or Informational for that chapter.

3. Get to know the members of the organization.

4. Research information on the internet about the group you are interested in.

5. Show your own involvement on campus (i.e. get involved in clubs, community service, etc.)
