How to Join

Joining a fraternity or sorority is an exciting opportunity to become part of a community that will challenge you to grow as a leader, serve others, build lifelong friendships, and make the most of your Baylor experience. Each governing council has a unique membership process designed to help you learn about organizations, meet current members, and find the community that best aligns with your values and goals.

Whether you're interested in a social fraternity or sorority, culturally-based organization, or service-oriented community, there are opportunities to find your place within Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Before You Begin

Before participating in any membership process, prospective members should:

  • Learn about the four governing councils and the organizations within each.
  • Review eligibility requirements, including Baylor University and council expectations.
  • Understand the time, financial, and academic commitments associated with membership.
  • Attend informational sessions and recruitment events to learn more about each community.
  • Ask questions and take time to determine which organization feels like the best fit for you.

Joining a fraternity or sorority is an important decision, and we encourage students to approach the process with an open mind and a commitment to finding a community where they can thrive.

Choosing the Right Chapter

Finding the right fraternity or sorority is about more than joining an organization—it's about finding a community where you can grow academically, personally, spiritually, and professionally.

As you explore your options, consider:

  • Does the organization's mission and values align with my own?
  • Can I balance the chapter's commitments with my academic responsibilities?
  • Will this community support my personal growth and leadership development?
  • Do I see myself contributing to and benefiting from this chapter throughout my Baylor experience?

Take time to meet members from multiple organizations and ask thoughtful questions. The right chapter is one where you feel welcomed, challenged, and supported.

Our Commitment to a Positive Membership Experience

Baylor University's Fraternity & Sorority Life community is committed to creating membership experiences that are safe, meaningful, and consistent with the University's mission and values. Every student deserves a welcoming environment where they can build authentic relationships, develop as leaders, serve others, and experience a healthy transition into chapter membership.

If you have questions about recruitment, membership expectations, or the joining process, the Fraternity & Sorority Life staff is available to help you navigate your options and make an informed decision.
